🐟🌿 Aquaponics · The Cycle Course
Symbiosis of Fish & Plant
Closed Ecosystem · Double Harvest · Ultra-sustainable
Description: Aquaponics combines hydroponics with sustainable fish farming into a living cycle. Harness the power of natural symbiosis – for chemical-free cultivation and a double yield: fish and vegetables from a single source. In our demonstration system, you will experience live how fish, plants, and bacteria interact perfectly.
- Understanding the nitrogen cycle: How bacteria convert fish waste into plant fertilizer (nitrification).
- Fish science & animal welfare: Choosing the right fish (tilapia, catfish, carp, ornamental fish), species-appropriate husbandry, feeding strategies, health management.
- Mastering water chemistry: Balancing pH, temperature, oxygen, ammonia, nitrite & nitrate – for healthy fish and thriving plants.
- The biofilter – heart of the system: Setup, colonization, maintenance, media selection (expanded clay, lava rock), and the cycling phase.
- Plants in the cycle: Suitable crops (lettuce, herbs, tomatoes, exotics) – nutrient requirements, deficiency symptoms (iron!), and adaptation.
- System design & pump technology: DWC, media beds, NFT, CHOP systems, hydraulics, aeration, energy efficiency.
- Operation & troubleshooting: Daily routine, algae, fish kills, deficiencies – rapid diagnosis & solution.
- Economics & law: Costs, profitability, fisheries law, animal protection, food hygiene – from hobby to farm.
🔬 Pure practice: Collaborative setup of a mini aquaponics system · Water analysis · Fish observation · Troubleshooting with real case studies
✅ Your goals, your results:
After this course, you will master the art of aquaponics. You will be able to plan, build, and operate your own recirculating system – whether for your balcony, garden, or as a commercial operation. You will understand the interplay between fish, plant, and bacteria, diagnose problems confidently, and manage your system sustainably and profitably.
